Frisco, Texas – Chris Kichline Wakeland, a beloved educator and founder of the Wakeland High School Color Guard program, tragically passed away on February 19, 2025.
Chris’s untimely death has left the Wakeland High School community and the color guard world mourning the loss of a true mentor and friend.
Nearly two decades ago, Chris founded the Color Guard program at Wakeland High School, shaping it into a cherished part of the school's identity.
His passion for the arts, coupled with his nurturing approach, created a lasting impact on countless students who walked through his doors.
Those who knew him remember Chris not only as a talented teacher but as a charismatic and compassionate individual.
"He was a wonderful person. Prayers for his family," said Austin Ray Snow.
Chris was also a longtime member of the NTCA Board of Directors, where his leadership inspired many within the performing arts community.
Friends and colleagues have shared heartfelt tributes on social media, expressing their sadness over the loss.
"He was an amazing person and even greater teacher! I learned so much from him!" said Aprille Ullerick.
