Sean Michael Cole, Esteemed Naval Architect, Passes Away After Courageous Battle with Cancer
St. John's, Newfoundland – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sean Michael Cole, a dedicated and respected Naval Architect, on Monday, February 17th, 2025, at the age of 41.
Sean fought bravely against cancer, surrounded by the love of his family and friends in his final moments. His unwavering strength, determination, and kindness touched all who knew him, leaving a lasting impact both personally and professionally.
A beloved member of the engineering community, Sean was known for his remarkable career as a Naval Architect, earning the respect of his colleagues and peers. His contributions to his field were significant, and he was admired for his work ethic and dedication to excellence.
Sean’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate medical teams who cared for him, including the ICU staff and doctors at the Dr. H. Bliss Cancer Centre, and those at Dana-Farber and in New Jersey. Their support provided comfort in Sean’s final days.
Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Saturday, February 22nd, from 2 – 4PM and 7 – 9PM, and Sunday, February 23rd, from 2 – 5PM. A funeral service will take place at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist on Monday, February 24th, at 11AM, with a livestream option available for those unable to attend.
Sean is survived by his loving family and friends, who will forever cherish his memory and the indelible mark he left on their lives.
